My thoughts on Salvation (2026)
I was curious about Emin Alper's supposedly bigger film, hoping to continue the success and epicness of Burning Days, but I feel compelled to say that this is more of a political lesson than a film. While Burning Days was also a didactic film with a didactic tone, it was far more free and original in terms of allowing the viewer space. However, Salvation presents things that are clearly simple but obvious as if they were grand, and because it does so without giving the viewer space, it makes me think that this grandeur is nothing more than ego gratification. The existing religious references and allegorical narratives are so obvious and so bland that the sequences they serve, and will serve, unfortunately lose their thought-provoking aspect in terms of imagery. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it needs to be incomprehensible, but it should leave room for the viewer to think. Unfortunately, it's just intellectual masturbation that doesn't go beyond Macbeth-inspired religious allegory.
