Jasonbtg's MBTI Document

A document's worth of notes on Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) typology using official literary sources.

MBTI: AN OVERVIEW

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a personality model created by mother and daughter Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, based on the desire to make the Jungian Psychological Types model more accessible to the masses.

General Information

  • Introversion (I) is a closer orientation to one’s inner world and concepts.

  • Extraversion (E) is a closer orientation to the outer world and people.

  • Thinking (T) is the function of logical conclusions and impersonal valuation.

  • Feeling (F) is subjective valuation, mainly how something affects you and others.

  • Sensing (S) is perception through the senses (use of sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch).

  • Intuition (N) is perception through the unconscious (the intangible, like hunches, being visionary, spotting potential and possibilities).

  • Thinking and Feeling are Judging (J) functions since both evaluate and assess the world. Sensing and Intuition are Perceiving (P) functions since both gather in and experience the world.

  • In each person, the functions alternate in a stack, meaning if a person’s first/dominant function is extraverted and judging, their second function will be introverted and perceiving and so on. However, whether a person is a J or a P type is decided by their most-used extraverted function (the Extravert’s dominant/first function and the Introvert’s auxiliary/second function).

THE 8 FUNCTIONS

  • Extraverted Thinking (Te) - Prioritises objective logic, external evidence, outside facts, and systematic order, applying universal principles. Dominant function of ENTJ and ESTJ.

  • Introverted Thinking (Ti) - Prioritises internal logic and theories. Subjective understanding, preferring abstract ideas over outside facts. Dominant function of INTP and ISTP.

  • Extraverted Feeling (Fe) - Social harmony, external values, and emotional connection. Outward expression. Adapting feelings to societal norms. Dominant function of ENFJ and ESFJ.

  • Introverted Feeling (Fi) - Personal values and ethics. Individual feelings of love, rejection, likes, dislikes. Deeper inner world, subtler outer expression. Dominant function of INFP and ISFP.

  • Extraverted Sensing (Se) - Focuses on tangible reality, seeking vivid experiences and practical engagement. Values sensory enjoyment and aesthetics. Dominant function of ESTP and ESFP.

  • Introverted Sensing (Si) - Focuses on internalising sensory experiences, comparing present stimuli with stored impressions and memories. Dominant function of ISTJ and ISFJ.

  • Extraverted Intuition (Ne) - Concerned with external possibilities, spotting hidden potential, and opportunities. Novelty and innovation. Dominant function of ENTP and ENFP.

  • Introverted Intuition (Ni) - Concerned with deriving underlying symbolic meanings. Imagery, prediction, and foresight. Dominant function of INTJ and INFJ.

  • INFP - Tender, dreaming, authentic, introspective, soulful. Self-doubting, melancholic, and morose. Sweet and poetic.

  • ESTP - Bold, impactful, quick, thrilling, adaptable. Dominating, callous, reckless, insensitive. Entrepreneurial and savvy.

  • ESFP - Energetic, charismatic, active, spontaneous, vivid. Impulsive, overwhelming, possessive, shaky. Vital and fun-loving.

  • INFJ - Visionary, insightful, gentle intellectuality. Lonely, burdened, and intangible. Interpersonally astute and advocating.

DETERMINING ONE'S TYPE

  • First, you have to decide which one of the eight functions (Te, Ti, Fe, Fi, Se, Si, Ne, Ni) the person uses the most above all others. For example, you may use Fe the most whilst your friend uses Ti the most.

  • Once the dominant function is decided, remember that Thinking and Feeling are Judging (J) functions since they mainly evaluate the world, whilst Sensing and Intuition are Perceiving (P) functions since they mainly experience the world. If a person’s first/dominant function is extraverted and judging, their second function will be introverted and perceiving and so on. For example, if your dominant function is Fe (Judging and Extraverted), then your auxiliary function will either be Ni or Si (Perceiving and Introverted), whilst your Ti dominant friend’s auxiliary will either be Ne or Se.

  • Using the example, let’s say you, the Fe dominant, decide that your auxiliary is Si and your Ti friend decides their auxiliary is Ne. Since your strongest extraverted function is dominant Fe and feeling is a judging function, you are a J, but since your friend’s strongest extraverted function is auxiliary Ne and intuition is a perceiving function, they are a P (Judging and Perceiving measure how you are seen to interact with the world around you, hence why this relies on measuring the extraverted function).

  • The order of the four-letter code = Orientation, Most-Used Perception Function, Most-Used Judgment Function, and whether your strongest extraverted function is Judging or Perceiving - in that order. Considering that and the prior rules, as an Fe dom and Si aux, you are Extraverted, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging, thus ESFJ. Your friend is Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Perceiving, thus INTP.

TYPE EXAMPLES USING CHARACTERS

As an author, the best way to showcase the 16 MBTI types is to paint a vivid picture of each through character examples. I have listed descriptions for at least one male and one female example for each type below, all from my completed scripts and published novels. Keep in mind, MBTI is about cognitive processes not morality, so the focus here is on how their minds work/how they interact with the world rather than the good or evil of their actions.

ESTJ (Te-Si) Examples

  • Harrison Hawthorne (Flat 378: The Life Game): Disciplined, authoritarian, hard-working, aggressive, moral, and arrogant. Harrison is a tall, muscular, stern athlete, a man who squandered a once-promising boxing career. His ‘killing story’ involved one of his boxing matches. The reason why Harrison holds himself to such high standards of discipline and focus is that he has an uncontrollable wrath inside of him that he would prefer to suppress. His failure to control his wrath during the most stressful fight of his career resulted in the killing of the other boxer. To avoid punishment, he was forced to play "The Life Game". Despite being one of the most intimidating players in the game, Harrison does not use this to his advantage. If anything, he uses it to his disadvantage. He spends most of the early stages of the game sticking to himself and exercising, and only talks to the others to scold them for things such as not cleaning up after themselves. He looks down on players such as Tay and Daniella, who scheme to get ahead, considering their actions to be disgusting. But as the weeks go on, he realises that he has to form alliances if he wants to survive.

  • Zoe West (Blood of the Insolent): Descriptor: The best commander at Unconventional Slaek Warfront and Raphael’s rival at first. A paradox of a woman who is cold, harsh, and biting, yet supportive and nurturing. She is defined by discipline, reliability in her USW duties, pride, authority, supreme levels of by-the-book competence, her irritable attitude, and professionalism. Unbeknownst to most of the Unconventional Slaek Warfront, Zoe is not the young woman from the slums of Renyland she leads everyone to believe she is. She has connections to a powerful figure. A powerful figure responsible for destroying her life and family. A desire to seek vengeance, to enact violent justice on this secret person, is why Zoe is such a strict and disciplined commander. For the years she has worked at the USW, she has obsessed over rising beyond what’s expected of even the best commanders for the chance at grasping the power that would allow her to kill this worldly figure without suffering any consequences. She starts the book disliking Raphael for his arrogance and what she sees as the impracticality of his strategies. Throughout the story of Blood of the Insolent, a mutual respect develops between them, which in turn develops into a romantic relationship.

ENTJ (Te-Ni) Examples

  • Raphael Vlebe (Blood of the Insolent): Raphael is a bright yet tormented individual whose life trajectory takes a dark turn following a catastrophic event. Once an optimistic teenager celebrated for his academic prowess, Raphael’s perfect life shatters on March 23, 2022, when a telekinetic technology failure leads to a devastating collision between two ferries in the Vae Ocean, resulting in the death of his entire family. This tragedy triggers a profound depressive state, transforming him from a starry-eyed youth into a hedonistic and purposeless adult for several years. By 2026 AE, his life gains direction once again when he is recruited into the Unconventional Slaek Warfront due to his unique talents, including a morbid desensitisation to death, exceptional memory, and strong predictive abilities related to warfare. Raphael’s insatiable need for recognition, applause, and a desire to display his intellectual superiority propel him to the top ranks of this secretive militia. He evolves into one of its most effective commanders, distinguished not only by his tactical skills but also by his moral flexibility and ruthless political manoeuvring. His personality aligns with a Big Five profile indicating high extraversion, moderate to high neuroticism, high conscientiousness, moderate to low agreeableness, and high openness. Raphael's complexity is underscored by traits such as ambition, competitiveness, manipulativeness, and a persistent sense of guilt and grief stemming from his past, all of which drive his obsessive quest for success and glory in a morally ambiguous world. Ultimately, his journey encapsulates the struggle between his brilliant strategic mind and the emotional burdens of trauma and loss, with the impending reality of making a significant impact in the ongoing Isle of Vae War looming over him.

  • Frederica Rasmussen (Tales of Planet Magnae): Frederica, known as the "First Ranger," is a highly skilled tactician and a top recruit in the Magnae Forces, recognised for her intelligence and determination. Despite her accolades, she is discontent with her position, feeling entitled to the highest rank, currently held by Dagim, whom she views as impulsive and unworthy of such power. Frederica experiences vivid dreams that later reveal themselves to be prophetic, adding to her anxiety about humanity's future. Her dedication to preparing for war includes creating contingency plans and even creating a personal language for secrecy. Frederica is driven and works relentlessly to train and strategise, yet she struggles with guilt and self-doubt when her moral code clashes with her ambitions. Her demeanour is often stoic, masking her emotional turmoil, which she channels into measured frustration rather than outright anger. This calm exterior contrasts with Dagim’s more impulsive nature, showcasing her capability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics while plotting a potentially dangerous conspiracy against him. Frederica's name, meaning "peaceful ruler," reflects her perceived destiny, although her actions reveal a more ambiguous reality.

ISTP (Ti-Se) Examples

  • Khalil Ibori (Juv County): A crafty, capable, strong yet concern-ridden young man. Calm and collected yet anxious and maladjusted. He lives in a world where failed yout serum experiments led to an apocalypse that killed the middle-aged and elderly and made the young increasingly violent. As the only one in the group with experience in criminal activity and gang warfare before the incident, he is forced into the leader role. Khalil is a young man who was equally bold and wary, with his fear of who can hurt his old friends in the normal world and new friends in the apocalypse leading to audacious, dangerous actions of attack. He is often shown to be both intellectually callous and cold, yet physically aggressive. His practical skills and the constantly running software of tactics and paranoid considerations as to what could damage them help to solve situations.

  • Cleo McKinley (Pecton: A Young Adult Horror Novella): A caustic, sarcastic new student, Cleo exhibits wisdom beyond her years, shaped by her upbringing. Daughter of Kane McKinley, a drug kingpin in Metcaster City, she is no stranger to violence and death. Her personality is characterised by toughness, caution, paranoia, bitterness, and a protective yet aggressive nature. She is skilled in using various weapons and often plans strategically for their group's survival against threats. Despite her rough exterior and associations with her father's criminal dealings, she possesses a tactical mind and a resilient spirit. She is relatively new to her school, transferring to Deacon Smith Sixth Form in her final exam term. Her past experiences with crime have made her both observant and paranoid, perfectly equipped to navigate a dangerous environment. She often uses sarcasm as a defence mechanism and maintains a tomboyish demeanour while wearing feminine clothing, embodying a complex duality inherent in her personality.

INTP (Ti-Ne) Examples

  • Tiana Chohan (Outlaw Utopianism): An eccentric, anxious inventor from Flora-Earth, the seventh and last member of Jesse’s crew. Tiana always had a natural affinity for machines, one fostered by her father, a great inventor in his own right, growing up. Unfortunately, her father and the rest of her commune were killed by prehistoric aliens in the Flora-Earth jungle. Following this event, Tiana locked herself in her family’s large home at the end of the jungle, only ever leaving to help fix the spaceships of those who happen to crash nearby. This was how she met Jesse and friends. Tiana is a woman of both a fun, awkward energy others find and crippling uncoordinatedness and uncertainty she works to break out of. Her tendency to say the wrong things at the wrong times causes initial friction when she joins the Essien Crew. But it’s her mechanical ingenuity and light-hearted inquisitiveness that bonds her to the team.

  • Craig Bexley (Space Sim): Craig is a lovable guy once you get past all of his strange quirks. Unfortunately, there are a lot of them to get past. Born a supergenius, it seemed that Craig never had to try hard when doing anything until it came to social skills. If he’s not repelling them with his smugness, he’s doing so with his insufferable genius attitude. Craig tends to make people uncomfortable with his hobbies, including his strange diets of boiled eggs and milk and his love for science and machinery that runs the line on being unnatural. Craig’s incredible intelligence may lead him to not connect with people as efficiently as he wants to, but it allows him to help others out with their various seemingly unsolvable problems, which he could not be happier to assist them with. With a mixture of awkward speaking patterns, cynical off-hand remarks and bizarre ideas, it’s hard not to remember him for better or for worse.

ESFJ (Fe-Si) Examples

  • Roisin Indermill (Tales of Planet Magnae): Roisin, a beloved medic in the Magnae Forces, is characterised by her kindness, stubbornness, and beauty, despite suffering from a degenerative disease that threatens her ability to perform her duties. She is the second-highest-ranked recruit and the best medic in her unit, known for her uplifting spirit, often using tough love to support others while grappling with her own self-doubt. Throughout the narrative, Roisin’s condition deteriorates, leading to the loss of an arm during a final battle, but she emerges with an artificial replacement in the epilogue. Her selflessness and dedication, though at times childish, contribute to her nobility. Roisin and Dagim, who shared a hometown in Incoba Nation, gradually express their feelings for each other, culminating in the birth of twins in the epilogue. The meaning of her name, "little rose," aptly symbolises her delicate nature and wilting health. While she usually maintains a positive demeanour, discussions about her condition reveal her struggles. Roisin fulfils the role of caretaker among her peers and serves as an idealistic figure, capable of reigniting hope in Dagim even during his darkest moments, ultimately guiding him toward his fate as humanity’s hero.

  • Kingston Eke (Combine and Conquer): Kingston is a likeable and accomplished young man who fulfils every aspect of the masculine role expected of him for the sake of love and validation. He is one of six young adults picked by an unknown force to be the first inhabitants of a brand new world and, due to his social charisma and despite his shallowness at times, is viewed as the leader by the others. Kingston and his family grew up in destitute poverty, drilling into him a need to protect his loved ones and to always push for greatness, making him do very drastic things for both. He initially had a wonderful adolescence as a gifted athlete who competed in football, rugby and boxing and a good student overall. This all fell apart, however, when his younger brother was accidentally killed in a fight, and Kingston saw it upon himself to beat up the man who did it and, in an ironic turn of events, accidentally kill them in a fight. Not wanting to let this ruin his life, Kingston attempted to move towns and turned to illegal means to make ends meet. In the present-day story of Combine and Conquer, Kingston attempts to truly live up to his role as a leader, not just the image of one, providing safety and security for others in this dangerous new world.

A highly influential socialite, she wishes to be a queen above all. She has a desire to improve the dire state of Commonsclan Zhakkari, taking great pride in using her talents in other lands to gather gold and give to the people of their clan. Grace is close to the Bello family and often earns gold through singing songs at their galas, lavishing in the admiration of their people. Despite her loveliness, Grace can be arrogant and combative. She often butts heads with her brother Samuel, who is just as altruistic, narcissistic, and ambitious as she is. She also unknowingly inspires envy in close friends, which results in their attempts to plot against her. Grace herself is quite skilled at plotting in return, being very politically astute. At certain points in the book, she bets on the love of people she has treated well to predict outcomes in strategies that allow her to overcome the odds.

  • President John Eliasam (Blood of the Insolent): President John Eliasam is the charismatic leader of the United Regions of Zereneva, characterised by a blend of narcissism and innovative foresight. As a Fox-type political figure, he is renowned for his exceptional intellect and oratory skills, which earn him widespread admiration. His leadership style is marked by his defining trait of manipulative charisma, alongside a theatrical approach to governance that makes his political manoeuvres appear grand and performative. This president’s rhetoric is laden with ideological ambition and a penchant for glorification, seamlessly using propaganda as a tool to influence the populace. His dominance in leadership is not merely a result of his intellect, stemming more from a skilful interplay of emotion and spectacle. Eliasam operates within a dangerous ideological framework, positioning himself as a superior innovator while also exercising an authoritative grip that raises concerns about autonomy and freedom within Zereneva. Through persuasion and control, he secures his plan for the potential greatness of the nation while perpetuating a controlled environment that prioritises his supremacy.

ISFP (Fi-Se) Examples

  • Noel Boateng (Pecton: A Young Adult Horror Novella): Noel, the main character of Pecton, is a depressed and lethargic young man grappling with uncertainties about life and death. The narrative unfolds primarily from Noel's perspective regarding the Pyperth Pecton Disaster, highlighting his need to anesthetise himself to life and focus on the simple pleasures of life. He experiences disturbing death dreams that haunt him even in wakefulness, indicating deep psychological turmoil. Attending Pecton, he isolates himself, seeking solace in free drinks and allowing his unconscious envy towards his academically successful and popular cousin Kelechi to fester. Noel’s athleticism starkly contrasts with his lethargy when threatened by danger, revealing latent resilience. Despite acknowledging his lack of friends, he forms a significant bond with Myah, whose fiery personality complements his more easy-going detachment. Their romance evolves from initial conflict to deep affection, yet Noel remains largely stoic about his emotional struggles.

INFP (Fi-Ne) Examples

Tope is a laid-back person who enjoys hanging out with his mates, partying, and pontificating on aspects of life and love. Following a car accident, he begins to have mental episodes where he worries about either his death or something horrendous potentially happening soon. These mental health issues cause him to withdraw from life and lament over a feeling he cannot shake that he is not like everyone else, that his mind was ‘built wrong’, enhancing his self-loathing. Despite his concerns, Tope is no stranger to causing trouble, frequently finding himself influenced to engage in mischievous acts with people such as his bad-boy best mate Griffey and free-spirited love interest Zoe. Due to being quite a romantic guy with a mysterious demeanour and fair looks, he finds that quite a few girls are attracted to him. Physical intimacy serves as a coping mechanism for their shared silences. Lydia’s distinctive style, characterised by her freckles and affinity for plants, embodies a damper version of the "manic pixie dream girl" trope. Despite adversity, Lydia tries to maintain somewhat of a positive Her living space, filled with plants and dim lighting, reinforces her status as a shut-in, symbolising her preference for solitude and a personal sanctuary away from scrutiny.

ESTP (Se-Ti) Examples

In childhood, he was both a target of his older brothers and a participant in neighbourhood bullying. As a high school kickboxing champion, Michael relished in his ability to dominate opponents. His violent encounters, such as dealing with an intruder using excessive force, showcase his dark humour and desensitisation to brutality. ISTJ (Si-Te) Examples

  • Kiyoko Kaido (Project Vesrough University): Kiyoko is an international student with top-tier survival skills due to growing up with criminal nomadic parents. Guarded, pragmatic, and focused on organising her life to be as seamless as possible. Before the death game begins, Kiyoko lives a quiet life on campus where she sticks to herself and her daily languid routine. When their university is chosen for the Univmorta Games, Kiyoko proves to be one of the best survivors due to the vivid memories of her past experiences with her parents across the seas and the simple code of rules she lives each day by, from base fortification methods to strict ideas on the type of people to and not to team up with. After the life she has led, she refuses to let something like the Univmorta Games be the end of her on principle.

  • Gabriel Bejide (Kin of the World): Gabriel Bejide is the main character of Kin of the World and is a moral, righteous, obsessive, hard-working, dutiful, responsible, kind and perfectionistic young man above all. The story follows Gabriel’s journey across kingdoms on a mission to put an end to elemental persecution and save the Novatus people. When Gabriel was a child growing up, he realised he was a Kin of Skies, the only Novatus race that can fly. He asked another Kin of Skies boy at the shelter home he grew up in to fly with him. The two ended up flying outside of Novatus territory. They were both shot down by human archers who were offended that Novatus would dare breach their territory. Gabriel survived, but his friend Maximilian was killed. This event stayed in the back of Gabriel’s mind until adulthood, being the reason behind his strict perfectionism, proper duty, and intolerance for his own mistakes, be they big or small.

ISFJ (Si-Fe) Examples

  • Stefan Machin (Tales of Planet Magnae): Stefan, a mute soldier of the Magnae Forces, is a seasoned warrior with a dark past and a capricious love life. His character is one that is quite often kind-hearted and supportive, which contrasts with his ruthless nature when provoked. This curse led to his isolation until he formed a bond with a deaf girl, Anais, who became pivotal in his transformation into a dedicated fighter. Despite being the fastest soldier in the forces, he garners respect and admiration without seeking the spotlight, often preferring background roles. His humble demeanour juxtaposes with his formidable combat skills, exemplified in his stealthy guerrilla tactics against enemies. His meaningful surname, Machin, ironically contrasts with his refined personality. The tension in his romance with Anais, marked by their separation during the war and the guilt stemming from a critical decision to prioritise their relationship over duty, adds depth to his character. This ultimately culminates in a self-sacrificial act during humanity's final battle, solidifying his legacy as a quiet hero who prioritises the greater good over personal desires.

Her fretful nature has her suffer from mental paralysis at times, but her care for others allows her to quickly build the courage to act. Aminah’s greatest flaw in the game, rather than the anxiety she gets over, is the hopeful naivety she refuses to relinquish even with all the death and destruction around her. That, and an unwillingness to engage in brutality required to survive quite a few times. But her gentle warmth and practical intelligence allow her to build somewhat of a found-family of students during the Univmorta Games.

ENTP (Ne-Ti) Examples

  • Samuel Zhakkari (Clan Zhakkari): Samuel Zhakkari is the intelligent and eccentric third-born child of Clan Zhakkari, embodying ingenuity among the four virtues cherished by his people. Despite his exceptional mental prowess in devising plans to save the clan, he struggles with vitality, evidenced by his poor physical skills as a swordsman and protector. In childhood, Samuel, raised by the passionate warrior Kingsley and his supportive wife Faith, eschews physical training, preferring to read upside down from a tree, which annoys his father. His intellectual arrogance and unique behaviour often make him a target for bullying. During his teenage years, he becomes competitive with his siblings, particularly Grace, sharing a narcissistic yet altruistic dynamic. While Samuel excels in planning and inspiring others, Grace is well-rounded and charming. Their differing methods for uplifting Clan Zhakkari intensify their rivalry, especially after their parents' passing. In adulthood, Samuel remains eccentric, choosing to stay in Clan Zhakkari Hustan while his siblings pursue outside endeavours. His efforts include playing card games to support the local community and improving farmland through ingenious designs. However, his rivalry with Grace persists, as they critique each other's methods of support for the clan. Samuel's character arc involves recognising the importance of practicality and physical responsibility, facets he initially neglects.

Unfortunately, her razor mind is rarely used for any good, a talent for creative problem-solving often used for her psychopathic enjoyment. She seems incapable of forming meaningful relationships with anyone other than him, her many past boyfriends being tools to use in her schemes to scam money out of others or shortcut her way into positions of merit. During school, she would entertain herself with elaborate plans to trick people out of their money, drugs, or random weapon items for no other reason than to, test how much she could get away with and how many people she could outfox. She is chosen for the Vertias Initiative, a small group of disposable young offenders doing shady work for low-level celebrities, often involving killing.

ENFP (Ne-Fi) Examples

Driven by his restless imagination, Jesse seeks authentic experiences, showing disdain for the sterile, machine-controlled world he comes from. He is fascinated by new experiences, his child-like excitement and curiosity being what allows him to adapt to dangerous situations and charm those around him. An engaging personality that leads others to see his exuberance as either irritating or infectious. Jesse’s impact extends beyond his immediate crew. He revitalises the Four-Earth Galaxy by encouraging its inhabitants to seek fulfillment through real personal growth, emphasising engagement in adventure, art, and enterprise rather than relying on simulations or mechanised dictates.

  • Jade Austin (Juv County): Jade is depicted as an eccentric and optimistic rebel who revels in chaos and morbidity, especially following an apocalypse caused by a deadly mist that twisted the world into a violent state. Her backstory reveals a troubled childhood marked by neglect from drug-addicted parents and abuse from her aunt after losing custody. Embracing the disordered post-apocalyptic environment, Jade delights in the thrill and entertainment of danger, often laughing even in perilous situations. This seemingly carefree attitude is later understood as an escapist defence mechanism to cope with her traumatic past. The narrative includes poignant quotes that illustrate her perspective: she questions societal norms by suggesting that one can still find joy despite the world’s end, exhibits a talent for finding humour in horror, and demonstrates a desire to maintain optimism against harsh realities, even as her façade begins to crack when faced with a new emergence of the destructive mist. Jade's character is a complex blend of resilience and denial, striving to convince herself that she can minimise her pain by choosing to see the world through a lens of fun and lightheartedness.

  • Ibrahim Khan (Combine and Conquer): A quiet man of pensive intensity, Ibrahim is an individual who, due to a life of immobilised trauma, developed his profound insight. He was once a happy but dark-minded child, introverted yet boastful, exceptionally intelligent and intrigued by the sinister. When he was thirteen, a serious car crash left him paralysed from the neck down. The story of Combine and Conquer takes place ten resentful years after the accident. Ibrahim finds he is one of six young adults picked by an unknown force to be the first inhabitants of a brand new world. Wanting them to make the most of building the new world, the force cures all ailments of the six, meaning Ibrahim is no longer paralysed. Of the six, he is the one most concerned with divining the grim secrets behind their strange reality. The others accuse him of reading too far into situations. He operates on the belief that even the tiniest things there have a true purpose.

  • Anastasia Çevik (Westior): A woman capable of achieving great feats due to her level head in the face of adversity and foreplanning when it comes to the collapse of her soul-crushing town of ‘no crime’. Anastasia was an accidental birth to two extremely poor residents of Westior. Growing up, they could not even afford to put her through proper schooling and would try and ultimately fail at properly homeschooling her. Being incredibly intelligent, however, Anastasia schooled herself from a young age. Anastasia wishes to be recognised for her intelligence and talents and use them to contribute to something much greater than herself. In Westior, she is the only civilian to notice the patterns that point to a hidden criminal empire being built in the town’s underground. She finds and uncovers the few criminals responsible for bringing crime back to Westior. Instead of exposing them, she convinces them to allow her to help in the technical aspects of their operations in exchange for the money she needs for university.

INFJ (Ni-Fe) Examples

  • Andreas of Acies (Magnitudo): A prince of vague prophecy who becomes a lord of grand romanticism. Andreas is a teenage noble as beautiful as he is tormented. While other young royals were concerned with enjoying childhoods of golden abundance, Andreas was incredibly aware of the fact that Acies was the weakest of the royal nations and foresaw great harm coming to their people if this was not changed. Thus, he was an incredibly studious boy who, fuelled by his deep love for his people, used what he saw as the true messages in ancient stories to construct his life as a royal, believing his hopes of a prosperous Acies would only take place if he did so. Despite his love for his people, he is incredibly insulated, spending most of his time on his own either in his natural habitat of reading and writing or working tirelessly to turn his weakness with the sword into a strength. Those who speak to him get the sense that he is far away, his mind never in the present but envisioning his projected beautiful future.

  • Molly Metcalfe (Vincball): An ethereal medical student from Kent’s hometown of Nackwenstown, who he meets whilst clubbing on New Year’s. They bond over morbid stories of childhood trauma, Kent suffering from neglectful parents and Molly from abusive ones. Molly is the type of girl who seems be to be able to ‘see through’ people in the deepest sense of the phrase. Despite her being lonely academic and Kent being a troubled student-athlete, he is drawn to her due to this trait, feeling from the moment they talked, before he even told her the truth of his past, she understood the pain inside his heart. The two start a relationship that feels profound, but grows obsessive. Molly becomes convinced that her and Kent’s paths align and that they are destined to complete each other despite their regular breakups.
